George Stinney Jr of African descent was the youngest person to be sentenced to death in the 20th century in the United States.

He was only 14 years old when he was executed in an electric chair. During his trial, even on the day of his execution, he always carried a bible in his hands, claiming to be innocent. He was accused of killing two white girls, 11-Year-old Betty, and Mary of 7, the bodies  were found near the house where the teenager resided with his parents. At that time, all members of the jury were white. The trial lasted only 2 hours, and the sentence was dictated 10 minutes later. The Boy's parents were threatened, and prevented from being present in the courtroom, and subsequently expelled from that city. Before the execution, George spent 81 days in prison without being able to see his parents. He was held in solitary, 80 miles from his city. He was heard alone without the presence of his parents or a lawyer. He was electrocuted with 5,380 volts in his head, imagine all that voltage in a teenager's head. 70 years later, his innocence was finally proven by a judge in South Carol

Media mogul: Linda Ikeji welcomes a baby

Linda Ikeji has birthed a bouncing baby boy in Atlanta. Linda who recently had her baby shower in Atlanta USA,has announced the birth of her son, Baby J. The proud new mom took to Instagram to share the happy news. She wrote: “Oh dear Lord, I am a mum. Baby J is here!  . He was born today 17th September. This is so surreal  . Thank you guys so much for the love through this journey and thanks for all the well wishes. Love you guys!  ” Linda revealed to the public that she was pregnant when she shared a photo of her six-month-old baby bump months back, with a lengthy emotional post, chronicling her journey and her excitement when she found out she was pregnant.

Bauchi Female Commissioner Resigns A female commissioner for Ministry for Environment in Bauchi State, Rifkatu Samson Dannah has resigned her appointment. This is coming at a time when Governor Abubakar had directed that appointees planning to contest in the 2019 election should resign and leave office. Dannah took the final decision after picking the All Progressive Congress’ nomination form to contest for State Assembly for Bogoro constituency. She said, her decision to contest was informed by the clarion call on her following positive achievement while she was an Assembly member. Court Stops Ondo Electoral Body from Conducting LG polls An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has barred the State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) from conducting the local government elections scheduled for December 1. In a suit marked Ak/195/2018 and filed by the Idowu Otetubi led faction of the state’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC against the party’s chairman in the state, Ade Adetimehin, the State Executive Committee of the party, the APC as well as the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC), the applicant had prayed that the court should restrain the 4th defendant which is ODIEC from accepting any lists of candidates from the Adetimehin led faction of the party ahead of the December 1 local government polls.
